Thales Underwater Systems

HMI homogenization for surface and submarine vessels

Over the years Thales Underwater Systems has developed numerous sonar HMIs for surface and submarine vessels. Often these screens do not look alike for reasons related to development (teams, techno …) and not to operational constraints. A modern and coherent graphic and ergonomic charter would be a real plus for these products.

Our intervention

We proposed a complete methodology: dynamic HMI mockups with a graphic charter, after a work of functional benckmarking and standardization of the screens in order to make them more ergonomic and more efficient.

Our solutions

The problems identified

  • Improved zoning
  • Improved Wording
  • Principles of human-machine interaction to be reviewed
    for more fluidity and efficiency
  • Outdated and inconsistent design from one product to another

The solutions provided

  • Optimized zoning
  • Wording reviewed
  • Fluid and intuitive human-machine interaction, minimized number of clicks
  • Modernized and homogenized design

A real time saver

A close collaboration with a great capacity of the Ludotic team to quickly understand our business universe.Ludotic supported us in defining the recommendations to operate to optimize our interfaces.

A book of recommendations, a white paper for TUS HMIs has been produced, for “dissemination” extended to all TUS employees concerned. We have also seen real time savings in the development of our applications.
